Questions. We all have them. And most of us have numerous questions for which we have no answers... I know I'm always searching for a myriad of answers to numerous questions, complex and simple alike.
But, sometimes, I wonder if I really know what the questions are. Let me rephrase that. Sometimes I don't know what the Questions are. Did you catch that subtlety? Questions... capital Q. The BIG QUESTIONS of life. As Socrates said, "The unexamined life is not worth living." I think I agree. I try to engage in examination at every opportunity.
It's simple, what I'm seeking in this blog, really. I want to know the Questions that are worth examining. I've come up with a few.
WON'T YOU HELP ME come up with more????
Here's what I have so far:
* Who am I?
* Why am I here?
* Am I (humanity) all there is?
* Is there a Higher Power, and if so, what is the nature of that Higher Power?
* If there is a Higher Power, what is my relation to it?
So... for you small number of folk who read me from time to time, please, set me on a new quest.... what're the questions?

On My Last ( NDE ) Near death experience, I went across, sat in the garden, asked my questions and when i got back i remembered the garden in detail. The smell the colors and flowers the grass. BUT i did not remember the answers to the questions. since then ( 4 years ) i have been trying to figurte out if I DO have the answers in my head and so this is my quest.
ReplyDeleteAlot of prayer and meditation. Higher Power Yes exists. for me at least. i dont think it entail sitting in a monastery and listening for the voice. It IS the voice that speaks amid all the noise. that little voice that calls from the side, " pssst, you listening?" listen for it, THEN ask those questions again, BUT, be ready for your answers.
jer.
The search for the answers is always ongoing. And I think I have reasonable responses to them all - to the ones listed, that is.
ReplyDeleteAs funny as it may sound, what I'm really interested in is ensuring the list of questions is comprehensive.
Thanks for your response, though, Jer. I have to agree with you. There are some who are best suited for contemplation in the silence of a monastic/hermitic setting. But for me, and the majority of folk, the answer isn't in exclusion but in the song of life, sung by the choir of humanity as it goes about it's business.
The answer is always in the song. It's the real role of music, I think... To answer questions we never knew enough to ask.
